Why is it eco-friendly?? Let me tell you why =) No plain paper. Only magazines, cardboards, recycled papers, starch glue, paper cup, cans, bottles, sticks & cny decorations.
This is our top. Took me quite sometime to crave out the Stars.
First we had a theme for our lantern & then came the name. *Love in the galaxy*Then we thought of having a four-sided lantern. Lesser material lesser time spend and easier. But 4 just isnt a good no. No auspicious. *Me very superstitious la :P* So we went ahead with a 6-sided one. Liu Liu Da Shun. ^_^
The lantern (6No. A4 sized panels & a flying rocket) *with my 6 scenes telling a story. Then we met problems. We wanted the 6 scenes but how to stick it to the panels. What material to use. And once pasted on, how does light shine thru.

These are the lantern sent for the competition. Other than thinking our lantern is good (Like who won't???), i personally love the one done by Tender. The extreme left. =) and also the Contracts. The extreme right. =)
After painting the panels. The pasting came. They suggested using the punched-hole magazines. Piece by Piece we stick it on. Colleagues asked AIYO Why so small. Why don't use a bigger shape. 6 Panels pasted with punched-hole magazine. One day only can complete one panel *_* No time spent during office hours.
Pasting the 6panels tog is disastrous *_* Panels are weak & fragile. Not as easy as we think it should be. Die !!! Time to combine the panels but how to ?? Wahahahax...Chopsticks came to support panels. Better in strength. But when sticking panels tog...chopsticks become an obstruction. Chum again.
Base using sticks & candle holder using can. *cutting the cans -- cutting my own fingers as well*Wahahahax Sticks one stack on another...how to fix it to the base?? Cant...chum !!
First choice of candle holder cannot fix on to the base...Chum !! Change to using Cans. Then next, how to drill hole into the bottom of cans by using pen knife. Hahax...Then it is the cutting of thick wires without pliers.
Even the internal side of lantern is all painted.
On the day of competition, we tried using a longer candle. Chum too long !! Cut it away, still too heavy to hold, might simple topple off and burn our whole lantern. Chum !! Have to find ways to fix it into place.
Then next came the dangling stuff. Got the materials but how to fix it on ?? Problems after problems.
Not forgetting the rocket. HF made the rocket and after that we realize holes need to be drilled to hang it. hahax electric drill ok :P
After making such a heavy lantern. Hanging up is another prob. Wire yes we have. But no where to go thru. Wahahahax !!!
And Tada !!! Here is our product !!!!

The extreme right. =)Of cos...when there are competition among divisions...it will always be said that its unfair for us to win. A tradition A custom. Nobody will say its fair for us to win. Everybody puts in effort.
Our 3 months effort are NOTHING. Ppl will say efforts are still efforts...no matter how long it is still an effort being put in.

Our lantern is the largest. But who cares. Big doesnt equates to quality.
Its simply just sad.
When one is thinking that its ALWAYS unfair...why cant one first put us in the equal position and compare equally. Yea Yea Yea...i shouldnt be saying that cos one may argue "there is never an equal ground to make comparison"
Whatever it is. There is no ground for me to argue on. Cos this will continue to be everyone's mindset & it will be forever.
